DataFact and Taxonomies for Oracle UCM and SES

I've spent a few posts in this blog mentioning WAND's DataFacet solution for Sharepoint 2010, but I wanted to be sure to emphasize that it is also available for Oracle Secure Enterprise Search and Oracle Universal Content Manager.

The story for Oracle UCM and SES is very much the same as the story for Sharepoint. Basically, users of these tools are struggling with search and tagging. Documents that get loaded into an Oracle content management system are difficult to find.

DataFacet helps solve this problem. Appropriate taxonomies can be selected from the WAND Taxonomy Library that provide foundation for an enterprise taxonomy. WAND has hundreds of topic domains to choose from. Then, the taxonomy can be customized to reflect company specific terminology. Once the taxonomy is settled upon, it gets loaded into DataFacet and documents that are loaded into Oracle UCM will be indexed and automatically tagged with terminology from the taxonomy. The end users who are creating the documents don't have to worry about tagging at all.

The end result of all this is that when users are searching, they will be able to browse, drill, and filter their conventional keyword search results by the tags provided by the enterprise taxonomy. This gives the end user a much better experience and more sophisticated searching options.

I'll be posting a video in the next couple of days showing just how DataFacet and Oracle work hand in hand.
